Tavern Snacks has selected Greenwich Design to create a new brand identity and product packaging for three of its own brand labels.

The supplier of snacks, crisps and nuts to pubs and licensed premises in London and the South East, is planning to launch the new style peanut packaging later this summer and included the release of a new Chilli flavoured variant. The new look crisp range and pork scratching rangers will be launched by the end of the year.

Greenwich Design was appointed by Tavern Snacks following a consultation on how the brand could increase its client base and brand presence, as well as attract a younger, more sophisticated and demanding target audience.

Originally Greenwich Design was tasked with the design and packaging for the new Chilli product but following research the agency presented Tavern with a more strategic plan to create and consistent look and feel.

“Having decided to launch a new product to the market, we came to Greenwich Design purely for packaging advice and design. It was amazing to see the work that went into their development and design process. Having a fresh set of eyes look over not just one product but the bigger picture, gave us a new focus and really got us excited about our brand again. We now have a consistent range of products that will appeal to a contemporary audience,” commented Tavern Snacks MD, Barry Stubbs.

Simon Wright, MD at Greenwich Design, added: “It is very refreshing to work with a much smaller and of course local business where we can really help shape the vision and strategy as well as providing support from a design and visual identity angle.

“Designing the packaging for the Chilli peanuts would have been great, but to redesign the identity for the other product lines, creating a stronger, consistent brand to take to market, will maximise Tavern’s chance to change perceptions. With the new branding, which will be revealed imminently, we have taken the tradition and history of Tavern Snacks and developed this into a design that is relevant and engaging for today’s modern and experimental consumer.”
