Tayburn wins Scottish Design Awards Grand Prix - see the best in Scottish design here

Edinburgh agency Tayburn has won this year's Scottish Design Awards grand prix for its work with the Children's Parliament.

Tayburn's brochure for the education project collected awards in the craft and corporate literature categories before being bestowed with the ultimate prize at last night's ceremony in Glasgow.
It was a rewarding evening too for fellow Edinburgh agency Whitespace, which won four awards including design consultancy of the year and the chairman's award. The Whitespace Tweet Train project, which enabled Twitter users to take control of a tweet-powered train in the agency's office, won best item of self promotion and the acclaim of jury chairman Dave Palmer of Love Creative.
Whitespace was also awarded best use of visual design for its online festive card for Rio Tinto.
Freight Design of Glasgow picked up two awards for its cult book 101 Uses of a Dead Kindle, which was recognised in the publications and craft categories.There were two awards in the promotional literature category, with Edinburgh agencies Project and Contagious both winning prizes for their work with alcohol brands.
Project was awarded for its Bartender's Choice materials for local brewer Innis & Gunn.
Contagious was recognised for its Jameson Irish Whiskey Gift Book.
And contuining the whisky theme, the award for packaging went to Glasgow-based Stand for its Auchentoshan limited edition bottle design on behalf of Morrison Bowmore Distillers.
Interestingly, Collective Architecture in Glasgow beat some of the city's best graphic design firms to the award in the exhibition/point of sale category with its plaque promoting Merchant City Voices for Glasgow City Council.
As well as recognising visual design, The Scottish Design Awards also feature awards for the nation's finest architecture. This year the architecture grand prix was awarded to Reiach and Hall Architects for Forth Valley College.You can see the full list of winners, as well as those who received commendations, on the Scottish Design Awards website.
