Report: Millennial Media released its Q1 findings

Amazon broke into the top 10 manufacturers with a massive 125 per cent impressions rise since the previous quarter and in the UK alone, Amazon impressions grew by 589 per cent, expected to be a result of the Kindle Fire HD.

Gavin Stirrat, managing director, EMEA at Millennial Media, said: "Tablet impressions in the UK grew 95 percent quarter-over-quarter, and we saw impressions from the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 all grow more than 70 percent. This demonstrates the growing diversity of the tablet landscape, and we’re seeing advertisers respond to this shift by focusing less on targeting a specific device or operating system, and more on reaching audiences and groups of consumers, across multiple devices, who are most appropriate for their brand."

Second-largest manufacturer Samsung saw an increase in impressions of 19 per cent and the Galaxy Tab was named the leading Android tablet. Android tablet impressions were up 96 per cent year-over-year, not accounting for 45 per cent of total tablet impressions.

Android was the largest OS globally but iOS maintained UK prominence with 41 per cent of impressions again Android's 32 per cent.
