Leo Burnett has unveiled an online game that echoes the popular Sims variant, Sim City, that allows users to run any Australian town based on real census data.

Can you run that town?

The game was launced via Leo Burnett’s Sydney Twitter account, and has been developed for the Australian bureua of Statistics.

“Our latest project. We've used all the #data from every town in #Australia to make a game! http://runthattown.abs.gov.au/ #runthattown #census” @LeoBurnettSydney tweeted.

“We are all addicted to playing it already,” the agency added.

Run That Town is described as a strategy game with a twist.

“It lets you take control of any neighbourhood in Australia,” the site proclaims.

“Use real Census data to discover who’s who in your area, and make decisions that will sway popular opinion in your favour. Choose from hundreds of projects for your town - from the practical to the preposterous.

“What kind of leader will you be? Will you be treated to a ticker tape parade, or chased out of town by an angry mob?”
