The combined value of Barclays Premier League clubs’ kit supply contracts has recorded a 32 per cent increase on 2011/12 to hit £117.3m – a new record high.

The spike has been driven by familiar faces such as Nike, adidas and Puma but also the entrance of Warrior and Under Armour who are backing Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

It has also been bolstered by the sale of a record 20m replica shirts worldwide by the league’s 20 clubs.

Other findings contained in the REPUCOM kit supplier report show that 11 different kit suppliers are now present in the leagu, which now accounts for two fifths of kit deal revenues across Europes top five leagues, with clubs earning an average of £6m apiece.

Andrew Walsh, president – global enterprise at REPUCOM, said: “The entrance of Warrior and the growth in Under Armour‘s investment in British football has been a real shot in the arm in terms of Premier League clubs‘ kit sponsorship incomes.

“The league’s global reach makes it a very attractive prospect for the world’s top sports merchandise manufacturers. In turn, kit contracts are becoming an ever-more relevant source of revenue for the clubs, not only at the top level, but right down the division.”
