Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, will no longer hold the role of UK director after TweetDeck was dissolved as a separate part of the business and became integrated with Twitter last week.

It has been reported by TechCrunch that the resignation took place on 9 May, two days after TweetDeck apps were closed, and three days after Companies House declared that the subsidiary was ‘dissolved’.

Costolo's UK role will now be handled by Laurence O’Brien, a Dublin-based chartered accountant. O'Brien joined Twitter at the end of 2011 as financial controller for its EMEA operations.

The Drum understands that Costolo is still a director for the company despite the change, and while Twitter has declined to comment a source close to the company has explained that alteration was made "as a legal housekeeping change."
