Wayne Rooney disowns Man Utd on Twitter and titles himself ‘NikeUK athlete’
Manchester United’s star striker has disowned his own club on Twitter, , by deleting his ‘Manchester United player’ tagline and supplanting it with ‘@NikeUK athlete’.
Rooney’s motivation for tinkering with his self-description isn’t known but it will give boost the sportswear brand and follows an ultimatum laid down by Rooney to Sir Alex Ferguson two weeks ago in which he demanded to be allowed to depart by the summer, opening the door to a lucrative £40m payday for the club should they opt to sell him.
Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have all been named as potential suitors of the 27 year old.
For the meantime however Manchester United maintain that Rooney cannot leave and he will remain with the club.
