Saatchi in Sydney have launched a TV campaign which aired on Wednesday for clients St.George Bank.

The campaign’s stated aim is to “start something”; start buying, start bidding or start hunting for their new home.

“The new home loan advertisements are the next stage in the evolution of our Start Something campaign,” said Martine Jager, general manager strategy, marketing & customer experience for St George.

“We are reminding them that we want to help even more customers make a start and become a home owner.

“We’re want to help people stop renting and start buying – if that’s what they want. Start bidding, start building or renovating – whatever it may be, we’re here to help Australians get started. Low deposit requirements and low interest rates mean that homeownership has never been more within reach.”

In March the National Housing Supply Council reported that home ownership levels were declining.

"After the Second World War, the trend was towards rising rates of home ownership. That continued up until about 1975. Then it peaked and hovered there for about two decades. Now it is very clearly on the downward slide," the group’s chair, Donald Owen said.
