Fast food giant McDonald’s is seeking to capitalise on its association with Charles Ramsey, the man who rescued three women held prisoner in Cleveland for a decade, whilst munching on a McDonald’s burger.

Ramsey gave prominence to his choice of snack whilst recounting his version of events to American reporters, indicating that he smashed in the porch door of a neighbouring property when a woman interrupted his lunch calling for help.

Picking up on this namecheck @McDonaldsCorp tweeted: “We salute the courage of Ohio kidnap victims & respect their privacy. Way to go Charles Ramsey- we'll be in touch.”

Not everyone welcomed the intervention however, with some Twitter users feeling that it was crass and insensitive, amongst them Andrew Coffey who responded: ‘REALLY??? cause he was eating $MCD Corporate whores! @McDonaldsCorp.’
