Kerry Katona has been banished from TV screens by the Advertising Standards Authority after fronting an ‘irresponsible’ payday loan ad.

Katona was used in the campaign to exhort viewers to grab ‘fast cash’ in order to fund a ‘celebrity’ lifestyle such as she herself enjoys – despite having once been declared bankrupt herself.

Referring to this incident as ‘money troubles’ in her spot Katona said: “We've all had money troubles at some point, I know I have," says Katona in the TV ad. "You could see your bank and fill in loads of forms, but is there an easier way to get a loan ... it's dead fast too. Fast cash for fast lives."

The ad for Cash Lady was seeking to promote loans of up to £300 a month, which carry an annual percentage rate of 2,760 per cent.

More than 30 complaints were generated as a result of the campaign, which debuted in January, with the ASA concurring that the ad was irresponsible in not explicitly referencing Katona’s bankruptcy.
