Shine the Light by Sheffield indie band Reverend and The Makers has become the first ever official FA Cup anthem after beating competition from five other acts in a Battle of the Bands search.

The song - also the signature tune on FIFA 13 - will be played live by the band at the FA Cup final on Saturday at Wembley.

Reverend and The Makers frontman Jon McClure said: "We said before this that we'd prefer our track to become the official FA Cup Anthem than to be a Number One.

"It genuinely means that much to us, and we can't thank our fans and all the people who voted for us enough. For me, the only thing that would be better is if Sheffield Wednesday were to win The FA Cup next season - but I reckon we can settle for this now."

The band captured 34 per cent of the thousands of votes cast by the public after bands performed at various FA Cup fixtures, beating second place The Enemy, who took 32 per cent of the votes.
