Photo sharing site Blipfoto, in partnership with VELUX, launched a landscape photography competition last October, which asked people to think differently about daylight and capture it in a photograph.

Around 9,000 photos were entered over six months, capturing the important role that natural light plays in everyday life.

Judging the photographs were Keith Riddle, MD at VELUX; Lisa Allen, editor at Grand Designs Magazine; Joe Tree, founder at Blipfoto; Dr Russel Foster, Oxford Professor and daylight expert; and artist Sarah Butterfield. The soon-to-be-announced winner will be offered a trip to the Arctic Circle.

In the meantime, using some of the entries, Blipfoto created a short film, “celebrating the beauty and the benefits of this precious natural resource.”
