Maxxium UK has appointed Zenith Optimedia to manage the media programmes for its spirit brands, including Famous Grouse, Courvoisier, Sourz and Jim Beam.

The £9m media appointment follows a four-way pitch process including fellow incumbent MediaEdge:CIA; with the extended remit to begin with immediate effect.

Maxxium UK’s marketing director, Peter Sandstrom, said: “Upweighting our advertising investment is key to delivering future growth for our business. The consumer demand for our brands continues to reinforce our strategy of being a dynamic brand-building company, focused on creating winning consumer and customer plans for the UK.

We are delighted to continue working with Zenith Optimedia who excelled in the pitch, showing a first class understanding of our brands and business. We have enjoyed a positive and long-standing relationship with MEC and thank them for their hard work and wish them all the best for the future.”

The consolidation from two agencies to one coincides with the company’s accelerated media investment.

Managing director of Zenith Optimedia, Mark Howley, said: “We are delighted and very proud to be asked to grow and deepen our partnership with Maxxium UK. Maxxium represents a potent mix of exciting, iconic brands and an inspiring and ambitious marketing team. We have a shared vision to create compelling customer communications and build great brands together. We look forward to making an even stronger contribution to their continued success.”

The media investment will be supported with stand-out in-store activity, promotions, sampling and PR.
