The Co-Operative Group has named Holler as winner of a competitive five-way pitch for its social media business.

Holler’s appointment is being heralded as the beginning of a fresh digital push for the brand which has set its sights on incorporating social media throughout its business.

To that end the agency will be tasked with undertaking social strategy, tactical work, community management, engagement production, blogger outreach and seeding.

This work will include the Co-Operative’s legal, banking, food and electrical divisions each of which will be given a specific social strategy.

Gail Lyon, The Co-operative’s head of social, said: “We chose to work with Holler because of their clear ability to see social as something that is both a unique engagement tool and that is integrated throughout a business.”

Holler co-founder James Kirkham said: “The excitement here is being able to show you all how to flip regular social on its head. We can't wait to present a brand new world of social media through this activity.”

Holler’s parent company is Leo Burnett, the present incumbent on The Co-Operative’s advertising account.
