Wizard of Oz song "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" looks set to reach number one in the UK download charts after racing to number three on Amazon in the 24 hours after the death of Margaret Thatcher.

The phrase from the song became popular with some members of the public who expressed little sympathy at the passing of the former prime minister, whose policies were extremely divisive during her 11-year tenure.

The song is currently at number 11 in the Apple iTunes download chart and appears set to shoot to number one as the reaction to Thatcher's death continues.

Spontaneous street parties erupted in many parts on the country on Monday night in the hours after the news was announced, while reaction on Twitter showed mixed emotions.
