The Orkney Tourism Group is seeking an agency to work on its digital strategy as it looks to better coordinate its websites and take its first steps into social media.

The tourism group is looking for an agency to audit Orkney's web presences, create a web plan to co-ordinate them all, integrate social media and create an app.

It says its main proposition is that a consistent link promoting its designated target URL be positioned on the landing page of every cooperative Orkney-based website.

This main URL would need to become a portal for all things Orkney, helping prospective visitors to find what they want quickly and enjoyably, while offering them surprising and delightful content on the way.

On the social media front, the tourist board is keen to dip its toes into Facebook and Twitter for the first time and also wants to consider the merits of newer platforms such as Pinterest, Foursquare and Audioboo.

Its travel app for the iPhone, iPad, Android and possibly Windows Mobile would be free to download with further adds-ons available to download.

Tender documents or links to them should be emailed to inigo.percaz@btinternet.com by 5pm on 19 April with the wording “Tender for Digital and Web Development 2014” in the subject line of the email.

Along with the digital brief, the tourism group has already invited agencies to tender for its visitor brochure for the next three years. Agencies are encouraged to view both documents as there is some crossover between the two tasks.
