Visit County Durham has launched a national marketing campaign to attract UK visitors to the north east county.

Showcasing the dramatic coastline and countryside of the region the campaign is focused on major transport nodes such as London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley and includes specialist press inserts running throughout February and March.

It also entails online advertising, e-newsletters and a recent supplement in the traveler section of the Independent which promote the campaign website.

Adopting the theme of walking and cycling the campaign is the first salvo in a three year long effort to bring the destination brand to life with subsequent areas of focus set to include Durham’s heritage as well as food and drink.

Visit County Durham chief executive Melanie Sensicle said, “The emotive imagery and phrases used in the campaign were designed to really challenge people’s perceptions of the county. And from the feedback we have received, we have achieved just that.”
