Digital marketing agency Equator has continued its global expansion strategy having opened an office in Kiev.

The office follows the recent opening of another in Manhattan, for which the agency is currently recruiting a managing director as it aims to grow to 15 staff by the end of this year and to 70 over the coming three years.

The Ukrainian office in Kiev meanwhile will employ a team of seven it is understood.

The agency currently employs over 100 members of staff at its Glasgow office and last year announced revenue growth to £8 million. It has told The Drum previously, that it aims to grow that to £10 million this year through its expansion.

The board, made up of managing director John McLeish, creative director James Jefferson and Garry Hamilton, the business development director will oversee the running of all three offices, although a New York managing director will be recruited before the end of the month.

McLeish explained: “The base in Kiev will support our UK web development team. We chose the Ukraine, not for cost reasons, but because of the abundance of web development talent there. We investigated opportunities both in the UK and across Europe but the expertise we found in Kiev was unparalleled.”

A local business development team has also been put in place in New York, while there are also some transfers from Glasgow to New York it is expected as well.
