Lidl has announced that it is set to give its UK area managers iPads, with an in-house app to help them access sales information on the retailer’s head office system.

The iPads will be rolled out later this month, following a trial in Germany.

A Lidl spokeswoman told Retail Week: “Our area managers will have an innovative device at their fingertips, which will ease their daily workload and save them valuable time. Using the technology in this way has made us a frontrunner in the food retail industry.”

The store added that the move, made after £500,000 as invested as part of the Lidl mobile office initiative, will help cut paperwork and improves efficiency.
