Footballer Lionel Messi is to take part in a live Twitter Q+A this afternoon, answering questions using the hashtag #askmessi.

Hosted by the @TeamMessi Twitter account, the chat is part of Messi’s ongoing deal with sports brand adidas. As Messi currently does not have his own Twitter account it is believed this will be the Argentinian star’s first appearance on the social networking site.

The live Twitter chat follows the reveal of signature adidas boots designed by the football star in February of this year. Messi is set to debut the red and white boots on the park later this year with the German sports giants stating that the design is “intended to reflect Messi’s footballing philosophy”.

The boots also feature a single red stud on the sole plate amongst 10 white studs to represent Messi alongside his team-mates and how he seems himself as “being only as strong as the team around him”. A 12 item sportswear range including the signature boots is also to be released as part of the adidas and Messi deal.

Questions coming in for Messi include “Do you still get starstruck?”, “Do you agree that Barça's way of playing right now lacks direction and discipline?”, “How do you feel towards pitch invaders?” and “Who has been the best defender you have played against?”.
