Talk Talk chairman Sir Charles Dunstone has been appointed interim chairman of YouView following the departure of Sir Alan Sugar last week.

Sugar’s resignation from the internet TV platform joint venture between broadcasters BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 and ISPs BT, Talk Talk and Arqiva, is said to have triggered a blazing row with Channel 5 owner and YouView shareholder Richard Desmond, according to the Guardian.

Dunstone, who is co-founder of Carphone Warehouse and group chairman of Talk Talk Group, will act as chairman until YouView can find a permanent non-executive chairman. As Chairman of TalkTalk Group, he has been involved with YouView since TalkTalk became a shareholder in 2009.

Sugar took the helm at YouView two years ago, following the resignation of former chairman Kip Meek.

YouView said in a statement it will now begin a search for a permanent non-executive chairman.
