Keep Britain Tidy has announced the appointment of Weber Shandwick to develop a marketing and communications plan, before the charity celebrates its 60th anniversary next year.

Weber Shandwick has been briefed to increase the organisation’s remit, so it covers more than just its littering heritage.

Adam Mack, Weber Shandwick’s chief strategy officer, said: “Over the past 60 years Keep Britain Tidy has established itself as the go-to brand around litter and local environment. We are thrilled to be working with such an iconic organisation and look forward to helping it tell its wider story in 2013 and beyond.”

Weber Shandwick will work with Keep Britain Tidy on both a new marketing strategy for 2013 and beyond, as well as helping to develop a high-impact national marketing campaign that highlights the organisation's wider work on waste, education, sustainability and resource.

Simone Spray, director of programmes at Keep Britain Tidy, added: “We are delighted to be working with Weber Shandwick, who have the strategic expertise, creative talent and extensive multi-sector campaign experience to meet all of our requirements under one roof. We will be working with them to develop a compelling narrative that reflects our broader remit and to communicate this narrative across the business and beyond in a way that can help drive fundraising and create real environmental change across the UK. ”
