Matt Damon has announced that he is going on strike from the bathroom in order to raise awareness about World Water Day on 22 March.

Announced in a spoof press campaign, Damon, co-founder of Water.org, has joined with Google in the hope of raising awareness of the campaign. One way the campaign suggests that people can get involved is by allowing the charity to occasionally use their social media accounts, such as Twitter and Facebook, for six weeks to post messages.

Mike McCamon, water.org's chief community officer, told The Guardian that content will be generic yet personal "so it looks like you posted it."

Other YouTube films for the project, featuring other celebrities and vloggers.
