The BBC has announced it will be, for the first time ever, live streaming all stages at the Glastonbury Festival this year, as part of its 2013 plans for music broadcasting.

The BBC’s announcement comes following the digital success of its Olympics and Hackney Weekend coverage last year.

The BBC has said it will be giving music fans "the slickest and most comprehensive" mobile coverage and that it expects 50 per cent of viewers to tune in on a mobile or tablet device.

At last year’s Hackney Weekend, 37 per cent of its viewers tuned in via mobile.

Additionally, Radio 1 Live Lounge sessions, Radio 2 In Concert performances and music sessions from other BBC outlets will be available to stream live and on catch-up services.

Tim Davie, acting director general, commented on the plans: "Our ambition this year is to offer music fans unprecedented coverage of live music.

"On desktop, mobile, tablet and connected TVs, we will bring BBC audiences closer to the music they love by offering a full performance or festival-goer experience for those who can't be there."
