How many people take time out to celebrate the community manager? They are one of the most public voices of the brand, but are often not seen as an important role.

Today, 28 January, is international community manager appreciation day (or #CMAD as the community managers will be calling it), when companies give a tip of their hat to the person who controls the social media world.

It has to be remembered that there is a difference between community managers and social media managers.

Social media managers manage brand recognition, planning campaigns and working with the PR and sales team. Community managers manage customer relationships, help with the flow of information both ways and works with the editorial and business development teams; according to Social Media Today.
