Starcom MediaVest Group has appointed Richard Hocking into a new role as EMEA director of performance and mobile.

Based in the Starcom MediaVest Group London hub with international remit, the new senior role sees Hocking tasked with driving the disciplines and approaches required in the dynamic content, mobile and performance spaces.

Having worked with Starcom MediaVest Group for 10 years, most recently as head of performance, Hocking has been instrumental in setting up the group’s performance business where he was responsible for the launch of Starcom MediaVest Group’s private affiliate network in 2009.

Speaking of the appointment, Ian James, chief digital officer, EMEA, said: “This appointment is the next stage in our focus on mobile as a broad strategic discipline to support our client’s commercial business models and help brands optimise behaviours. Richard will play an integral role in the global development of exciting new mobile and performance services from our London hub.”

Hocking will work with Pippa Glucklich, Starcom UK MD on developing UK operations and with both Iain Jacob, president, dynamic markets, and Ian James, on developing EMEA initiatives.

Hocking added: “This role brings together the disciplines of mobile and performance with the opportunity to develop approaches and services with international scale.

“Mobile is an essential element of many of our clients’ global development plans and I’m very much looking forward to supporting the business ambitions of our UK and international clients.”
