Sky 1 and Warner/Shed owned Twenty-Twenty Television are working together on the pilot for an interactive quiz show using Monterosa’s LViS Studio platform to power the second screen play-along feature.

Hosted by Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox, Take on the Nation allows players at home to interact live with the show using an LViS-powered HTML5 app.

During the broadcast the audience will be asked to answer eight rounds of yes/no questions based on morals, while they answer the question Cox will speak with a selection of viewers via Skype to provide insight a snapshot of the nation.

The three contestants in the studio will then be asked to guess what percentage of the audience answered ‘yes’ to the questions posed.

The contestant with the closest prediction will then bank a sum of money and whoever collects the most over the eight rounds will go through to the final, where they will be pitted against the viewers at home to keep their prize.

Speaking of the technology involved, Monterosa managing director, Simon Brickle, said: “The beauty of using LViS is that you can create a usable, good-looking HTML5 app quickly, which plugs into TV graphics and studio technology, and can live on any device or platform.

“It’s brought time and costs down dramatically, enabling producers like Twenty Twenty to test interactive formats while in development.”
