EDF Energy has announced the appointment of Wunderman and An Abundance to handle its below-the-line activity.

Wunderman has been appointed for the B2C market and An Abundance for the B2B market, with the contract to run until November 2014, with the chance of extension.

Martin Stead, marketing director at EDF Energy, said: “We are on a mission to rebuild trust in our sector, and to stand out as the Feel Better Energy company.

“An Abundance and Wunderman have been selected as our lead below-the-line agency partners to help us deliver Feel Better Energy through direct communications that engage customers and prospects, communicating the real substance behind our claims in a way that cuts through the clutter, delivers real business results, and wins awards.”

Wunderman and An Abundance will replace current incumbents Archibald Ingall and Stretton.

Wunderman CEO Mel Cruickshank said: “We are delighted at our appointment and excited to be working with such a progressive brand in its category. Having won the pitch on our smart strategy, great creative and data expertise, our goal now is to support EDF Energy in making a step change in their Direct Marketing in 2013 and beyond.”

Chris Ward, managing partner at An Abundance, added: "EDF are market leaders in the B2B sector with a portfolio of phenomenal products and services. We are absolutely delighted to have won the business to build and execute a comms strategy around the innovation streams of work developed over the last year."

The appointments follow a pitch process carried out by Marketing Advertising Association (MAA).
