An official Oscars app has been released on Android following the nominations announcement yesterday and ahead of the Academy Awards next month.

Application users will be able to gain access to the Academy Awards before, during and after the show. From today fans can go behind the scenes of the nominations show with Oscars host Seth MacFarlane, find out more about the nominees, and fill out their My Pick interactive ballot, which can also be shared via Facebook.

A Backstage Pass feature has been added to complement the live telecast on Oscar Sunday; fans will be given unprecedented access to the most memorable moments of the night including exclusive live cameras positioned on the Red Carpet and throughout the Dolby Theatre.

Speaking of the app, Karen Gilford, SVP of digital media for ABC Television Network, said: “Our goal is to create a really full, immersive experience leading up to, during and after the Oscars.

“With its availability on the Android platform we look forward to bringing even more people into the Oscar experience. We want this to be the next best thing to attending the show itself.”

Backstage cameras include a Thank You Cam where winners can personally thank their fans, Backstage Cam covering all the action behind-the-scenes and short interviews, Control Room Cam featuring the show’s director and production crew, and Press Room Cam which will show the world’s media interviewing the night’s winners.

As before the app is available for iOS as well.
