The man behind the most successful anti-Apple advert advert of the past year has been poached by Google from Samsung.

Brian Wallace, formerly Samsung's VP of strategic marketing is to lead marketing at Google's Motorola, reports AllThingsD. Wallace has confirmed the move in an email.

At Samsung, he was credited with the company's ad campaign that took swipes at Apple. The spot seen here for the Galaxy S III was the second-most viral ad video of the year, according to analytics company Visible Measures.

In the ad fans are seen waiting in line for a new high-tech product -presumably the latest Apple innovation .

The Galaxy users in the queue , however, it turned out were only there keeping a place for their parents. The not-so-subtle message: Apple is for the older folk.

After more than a decade at BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, Wallace had joined Samsung only last year.

Wallace faces a doubly challenging task: repeating his success at Samsung and at the same time stemming declines at Motorola.

Samsung doubled its Android OS market share from 23% to 46%,from the third quarter of 2011 to the third quarter of 2012, according to Millennial Media.

Google completed its $12.5 billion acquisition of mobile-phone maker Motorola earlier this year - so one plus for Wallace is that he will be working closely with the Android team.
