The Guardian has launched a news headlines plugin for Wordpress with the aim of providing “relevant news headlines and their thumbnails whilst blending seamlessly into any theme.”

The new plugin can be installed in any WordPress site in less than two minutes, providing a widget that can be positioned on the website as well as offering a number of options to customise what is displayed on the site.

From the Category selection users can choose from 27 Guardian news sections to find content that is relevant to their site. This was specifically designed with blogs in front of mind as visitors to a user’s blog would immediately see up-to-date links to relevant content.

The Guardian states it is better than an RSS plugin as it features cached integration and results by most viewed. It also has thumbnails available and it legal on commercial sites.
