Alex Meisl, chairman of the UK Mobile Marketing Association and mobile agency Sponge, has been appointed as to the Institute of Promotional Marketing’s board.

In his role, Meisl will advise on the role the mobile channel is increasingly playing in the promotions mix.

He said: “During my two year appointment at the IPM I hope to make a contribution to how brands can get the best out of the mobile channel – the need to have a mobile strategy in place is becoming increasingly evident as more people search, shop and interact via their handsets.

“Mobile is an integral part of people’s lives, but still very personal, so best practice is crucial when using this platform to engage with consumers.”

“I have known Alex for a number of years - he will be an excellent asset to the board,” said Becky Munday, chairman of the IPM. “His mobile expertise is second to none and will help the IPM add value to members in all areas of promotions.”
