In celebration of its 125th anniversary Dunlop Motorsport has assembled a collection of the most iconic motorsport imagery and launched a special exhibit in its home city of Birmingham in a bid to champion the motorsport industry and raise money for charity.

Campaigns past and present from the likes of Morgan Motor Company, Prodrive, Milltek Sport, Donington Park and Lotus F1 will feature in the exhibition.

“Looking through our archives sparked the idea for this exhibition, as we realised that the motorsport industry has brought some of the most compelling advertising creative into the world over the years,” said director of marketing and communications at Dunlop Motorsport, James Bailey.

“Our exhibition will be a fantastic walk down memory lane, reflecting on how the industry has thrived since John Boyd Dunlop invented the pneumatic tyre in 1888 - 125 years ago. But it is also a chance to celebrate the innovation currently happening in motorsport which makes us a technologically-advanced and future-looking industry.”

The proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to Mission Motorsport, a charity which provides motorsport opportunities to aid the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations.

F1 commentator and former Dunlop advertising executive, Murray Walker, added: “The pace of progress within the motorsport industry continues to be as exciting as when I was creating advertising for Dunlop in the 1960s. It is quite humbling to think we celebrated Dunlop’s 75th back then; time really does fly.

“Whilst some of the ads exhibited are for products, brands and teams which have long disappeared, other brands such as Dunlop continue to thrive.”

The exhibition will begin in Birmingham in mid-January 2013, motorsport companies or their creative and ad agencies can still submit their work to be included in the event.
