Everton FC has launched its Christmas campaign developed by Rippleffect.

Rippleffect were tasked with creating an exciting Christmas campaign that would reward fans for all of their support throughout the season.

Rippleffect responded to the brief with a campaign that pulled together the different strands of Everton’s digital activity to make it more than the usual online game and Christmas message.

Rippleffect asked fans to ‘Turn the City Blue’ for Christmas through a virtual map of Liverpool that turns bluer every time someone carries out an activity. Rippleffect has allowed fans to turn the map by tweeting using the hashtag #BlueCrimbo, uploading photos of themselves turning the city blue, buying tickets to a December match or even buying Christmas presents from the Everton site.

To encourage fans to come back throughout the whole of December, Rippleffect developed an advent calendar; behind each door there is something to download that will help turn the city blue, such as a screen saver or Facebook profile picture, as well as exclusive video clips and player content.

Furthermore, to make the campaign social and create a viral effect Rippleffect launched a competition where Everton fans can fill up their online "stocking" with up to £200 worth of Everton Christmas gifts. Five people will be selected to win the contents of their stocking.

Since it launched five days ago over 3,000 people have got involved;
