As you may or may not know this weekend marks the final of ITV’s The X Factor, and battling it out to be crowned 2012's winner in the all-boys final is Jahmene Douglas, Christopher Maloney and, brother of The Drum media sales executive Sian, James Arthur.

In honour of this, we at The Drum have complied 10 reasons why you should back James to win and that, more importantly, should encourage all of our lovely readers to vote for him:

1. He has nearly a massive 900,000 Twitter followers which makes us more than a little jealous (not that we don’t love all of our followers, we just wish there were more of you).

2. Despite his own contestant Christopher Maloney still being in the show the legend that is Gary Barlow has backed James to win. And since losing all her acts fellow judge Tulisa is now with us on Team James Arthur.

3. He took on Frankie Boyle after he said some very nasty things on Twitter at the weekend (sorry Frankie, but we’ll always back James).

4. Paddy Power currently has James and Jahmene as joint favourites to win, but as Jahmene already has an ASDA ready meal named after him we think it’d be greedy if he won X Factor as well.

5. He’s this year’s heartthrob with literally hundreds of marriage proposals being sent to him through Twitter (rumour has it even Jodie Marsh has said she fancies him, friendly word of advice James – RUN).

6. He has tonnes of celebrity fans including Xtra Factor host Olly Murs, Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby, One Direction’s Niall Horan, and the boys from McFly.

7. Despite singing covers every week on The X Factor James is a very talented songwriter and writes his own songs.

8. He received a hero’s welcome at his homecoming gig on Tuesday where he and his mentor, Nicole Scherzinger, arrived on the back of a £25,000 Harley Davidson and then spent the morning in James’ local pub (a man after our own hearts).

9. According to his official X Factor profile James has a passion for women’s beach volleyball (wonder why?)

10. Did we mention his sister works at The Drum…..?
