The first phoenix agency to launch since the closure of Manchester PR firm Staniforth will open its doors at MediaCityUK tomorrow.

Rule 5 has been set up by Rob Brown and Julie Wilson, who held the posts of managing director and group account director, respectively, at Staniforth until it was shut by parent company TBWA on 7 November.

Founding directors Brown and Wilson have been joined by two other former Staniforth staff and say they already have clients on board in the food, sports and media sectors.

Brown said: “We chose MediaCityUK because of the rare concentration of media businesses, new and old. There is also a huge amount of creative talent and people that we want to work with to create media content.

“The old network advertising/marketing/PR model is broken beyond repair. PR companies are becoming much more aligned with media organisations channelling information in written form, as well as audio and visual.”

Wilson added that the new agency hopes to add more staff to its team in the new year.
