Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 and Warner Bros have created a licensing deal which will see characters from the Hobbit to be used in the latest advertising campaign.

Created by Wunderman, the campaign currently includes ads featuring James Cordon and Holly Willoughby, with the Hobbit ads to roll out online this week.

The Hobbit work, which will feature Bilbo and Gandalf, is being released to coincide with the upcoming release of The Hobbit on 13 December, and will include press and outdoor activity from 26 November.

Stephen Guy, managing partner at Wunderman, said: “Windows Phone 8 offers a truly personal phone experience, connecting you to the people and things that matter most, this campaign allows you to see how our celebrities and characters personalise and use their phone."

All media for the campaign has been planned and bought by UM London.
