Virgin Media have given their fleet of bog standard engineers vans a makeover by transforming them into a series of movie inspired creations.

First up for the treatment is a green painted Thunderbird 2 – alike which is now trundling up and down the country, intended to signify the company’s new range of digital services, including TiVo and 120Mb superfast broadband.

Other designs to be unleashed include a representation of the Ghostbuster teams ghoul-mobile, the Jurassic Park jeep, the Batmobile, Lightning McQueen from Cars and Optimus Prime, the Autobots leader in Transformers.

Mark Palmer, a Virgin Media engineer and now the proud driver of Thunderbird 2 said, “I am a big fan of the Thunderbirds, so being able to drive around in a van themed like Thunderbird 2 will be amazing! I can’t promise I’ll be dressed as Virgil Tracy or that I am the ‘Brains’ behind Virgin Media but I can certainly help to deliver our range of great products and services to customers. If anyone sees me, they should definitely give me a wave.”

Maurice Daw, executive director of access at Virgin Media, said: “We are really excited about the latest additions to our super-fleet, we know how proud our engineers are when they’re driving around in these bespoke vans. Although they won’t be fighting ghosts or worrying about avoiding any T-Rex’s we are confident they will make our customers smile!”
