Transport for London has begun a marketing campaign to highlight the dangers of illegal minicab use.

Creative by M&C Saatchi, the campaign has been released ahead of the Christmas party season and will include cinema, outdoor, print and online, with an app also being developed in-house by TfL to allow people to book taxis safely.

The campaign will highlight that it is illegal to take an unbooked minicab and the risk of sexual assault that women place themselves in by doing so.

Activity will include the video, posters, z-cards and face to face within London nightclubs, with the headline ‘If it’s not booked it’s just a stranger’s car’ featuring on the posters.

Carrie Hindmarsh, CEO of M&C Saatchi, explained that power of the campaign stemmed from insight that women believed they were taking measures to ensure their own safety.
