Sally Bercow has been urged to ‘turn off Twitter’ by media lawyers after she sent another ill-judged message to her 59,000 followers, this time naming the teenager at the center of the case against Jeremy Forest who is alleged to have abducted her in September this year.

Her post on Twitter at 8.40pm last night asked what happened to the teacher and directly named the girl, later adding: "Forgive random question - just discussing with friend...”

Due to her age the schoolgirl is protected by the judicial system, preventing her identification in the media. As such, the Commons Speaker’s wife, who is already being sued by Lord McAlpine after she named him on Twitter in relation to the Newsnight report on sexual abuse by a senior Tory, could face a £5,000 fine under Section 39 of the Children and Young Persons Act.

Several journalists who follow Bercow were quick to point out that she was breaching the court order, despite this Bercow had not deleted or altered the tweet by midday today.
