News Corp is set to expand its Fox brand into the UK following the decision to replace the FX pay-TV channel with a Fox branded channel – the first time this has been done.

FX airs hit shows such as The Walking Dead and Dexter in the UK with the Fox name being largely unknown on this side of the channel but is the name of News Corp’s main US TV network.

FX launched in the UK in 2004 with much of its scheduling centred on dramas but is likely to increasingly branch out into comedy once renamed.

New shows being lined up for the station include fantasy drama Da Vinci’s Dreams, a new series of the Ricki Lake show and new seasons of Dexter and NCIS.

Jason Thorp, Fox International Channels managing director for UK said Fox was a "brand name recognised globally for delivering smart entertainment with an edge".
