Mail Newspapers has launched the first version of its Mail Plus application on Amazon’s new Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD tablets.

The application offers readers an enhanced version of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday newspapers, as well as related supplements and Weekend magazines. Mail Plus also features photo galleries and an interactive puzzle section boasting 22 games.

Mail Newspapers has also confirmed that Mail Plus is set to launch for both the iPad and iPad Mini in mid-December and will feature editorial and commercial content. A new daily magazine is also planned featuring additional lifestyle content and interactive material such as a daily five-minute cookery demonstration from celebrity chef Gary Rhodes.

The app will also enable e-commerce, with users able to link through from editorial content to featured retailers or brand websites.

Group advertisement director of Mail Newspapers, Rosemary Gorman, commented: “Mail Plus takes the levels of engagement and interactivity with Mail Newspapers a stage further, providing a breakthrough opportunity for our advertisers to engage with our highly desirable audiences in a new, interactive dimension.”

Mail Plus is available from the Kindle Fire newsstand now, and includes a 30-day free trial period.
