Channel 5 has announced the appointment of Ben Frow as director of programmes, following Jeff Ford's departure.

Frow is not a stranger to Channel 5: he held the role of controller of features and entertainment from 2004 to 2007.

Paul Ashford, group editorial director at Channel 5 parent company Northern & Shell, said Frow "has a proven track record in the TV industry and we're very excited to hire someone of his calibre, who knows the channel from the inside, to take on this key role.”

Currently the director of programming at Irish commercial broadcaster TV3, Frow will take up his new role in February.
