The PR Council has announced the election of a new vice-chairman, Rob Ettridge, following a vote of senior PR practitioners sitting on the Council.

Ettridge will work with chairman Martin Bostock to deliver Council projects for a transition period before assuming the role of chairman himself in the New Year.

Ettridge said: “The PR Council has an important role to play in highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing our industry, helping to raise the profile of public relations and demonstrating the value of our profession in today’s fast-moving world.”

Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, former PR Council chairman and CEO of Liquid, said: "During my year as council chairman we looked at three areas - the consultancy/client relationship, evaluation and ethics.

Rob made a significant contribution to the working groups established around these areas and was actively involved in the discussion, planning and delivery of these initiatives.

"He will be a superb chairman of the Council in 2013/14 and I know will provide the new Chairman, Martin Bostock, with considerable support."
