It's that time of the week once again when we pick out the saddest ad from the last seven days.
Winning the award no one covets this week is Beechams, with a Sherlock spot that's truly criminal.
If the fictional Sherlock Holmes's deduction skills are adversely affected by the common cold in this ad then what the hell was the copywriter suffering from? The ebola virus? Holmes cannot see the vital clue to solve the murder that's before his very eyes because his judgement has been impaired by his symptoms.

if were slagging off crap ads why aren't you 'outing' the agency that created it? don't blame the client, blame the creatives/account directors that sweet talked them into it (and out of probably quite a lot of money)

@scott@traffic To be fair, The Drum isn't holding back on this... unsurprisingly, it's a good deal harder to find out who did what on ads like this.

@scott@traffic Latest intelligence suggests it's probably an American import.

I love the ad - it makes a clear point and wraps it in memorable cheese with visual puns bordering on slapstick. It certainly got you guys talking about it.

Appropriate for a character known for cocaine abuse

@braemarbilly Though he didn't ingest it nasally... he preferred a 7% solution intravenously.

To be fair, it doesn't look like this ad was made in the UK. Maybe it's just the video/audio not aligned but I'd say it's dubbed.

It may seem like a rubbish ad but it could be clever market stimulus from Beechams - when I saw it for the first time last night it induced headache, nausea and an overwhelming feeling of weariness. I thought I was coming down with flu!

Shame. Because the premise of the ad – that a brilliant detective could miss something bleedin' obvious (and obviously bleedin'?) because he's feeling lousy – is a potentially funny one.

Interesting idea with no money spent on the production. If they'd used Armstrong and Miller we would be applauding their genius

Another dodgy foreign ad, dubbed for our benefit. Lazy work all round. On a par with that Rum ad that has taken the WKD concept and created a shocker. I agree, expose the agencies, not just the brand.

Agree with this one! Very poor effort...
