Paper manufacturer Favini and design agency Silk Pearce have unveiled a new packaging solution, which incorporates co-products from food manufacturing processes - such as citrus fruits, coffee and hazelnuts - that would normally go to landfill.

Silk Pearce has advised Favini on paper colours and surface finishes, as well as naming the range and designing the graphics, swatch and other promotional materials. Each of the seven paper colours has been named after the process residue it contains, such as kiwi, olive or almond.

Chris Brown, marketing and export sales director at Favini, said: “Silk Pearce has been instrumental in helping Favini develop our Crush papers and we are delighted the range has been so strong endorsed with the 2012 Luxe Pack in Green award.

“All the papers are FSC certified and contain 30% post-consumer recycled waste, as well as process residues replacing up to 15% virgin tree pulp. They are even manufactured with 100% green energy from our own hydroelectric plant.”
