Google Music is mounting a bid to take on Apple’s iTune at its own game after signing a deal with Warner Music Group to begin selling its catalogue of songs through Google Play.

The deal means that all four od the big US record labels have now signed up to the platform and pits it head to head with Amazon’s Cloud Player and Apple’s iPlayer.

Google Music was launched last November and allows users to store their library of songs in the cloud to playback anywhere as well as purchase new tunes but had previously been of limited appeal due to its incomplete catalogue.

Currently only available in the US the platform will roll out its music sales to the UK, Spain, France, Germany and Italy from 13 November with movies also being made available in the UK, Canada, France, Spain and Australia from Monday.
