If you find yourself lounging in bed at 11am this Sunday fret not for the Sleep Council, the UK trade association for bed manufacturers, has declared it National Sleep In Day.

To mark the occasion a series of tongue in cheek ‘sleep patrol’ videos have been released on YouTube in which a fictional detective investigates the ill-effects of sleep deprivation on everyday lives.

From caffeine compensation, to taking a nap behind the desk or even nodding off whilst driving the series aims to highlight how a good nights kip can do you the world of good.

One investigation even sees the pair apprehend an amorous couple who find themselves flagging on the couch.

In addition to the videos the Sleep Council has also devised a UrKnackered app which transforms happy sleep nourished faces into pale, grey and blotchy horrors after skimping on the sack.

The trade body hopes that the clips will also encourage people to upgrade their mattresses to improve quality of sleep as well as the quantity.
