News International’s severance pay to Rebekah Brooks has been reported as being worth around £7m.
The Guardian reports this morning that Brooks, the former chief executive of News International, who is at the centre of the phone hacking investigation, having been editor of The Sun during a period when it is claimed to have been a widespread practice at the tabloid, would pick up between £6m and £8m.
The payoff package was initially speculated to be in the region of £1.7m following her departure.
It is expected that Brooks will face trial next September alongside former News of the World editor Andy Coulson over phone hacking charges.
