The London arm of social networking giant Facebook has reportedly made a pre-tax loss of £13.9m last year.

The Telegraph reports this morning that accounts filed with Companies House show the loss despite estimated advertising sales of £175m in the UK in 2011, although staff costs tripled to £24.8m, having grown from 81 people to 90.

The London office is also reported to have paid less tax, down from £424,651 in 2010 to £238,317 last year.

It is also reported that Facebook and its lawyers were pressed by regulators for more information on how it counted users and other issues. Facebook has not commented on the report.
